PAPER BOATS OF LIGHT

This first panel is a representation of a memorial ritual I held on my local river for a dear aunt. For the ceremony I released paper boats onto the water that magically glowed with sunlight as they sailed slowly down the river. This was a personal moment of letting go and I wanted to bring that sense of release into the Renal Department Unit of the Dooradoyle Hospital in Limerick.

Both coloured and black photographic decals are used here, as well as crushed glass and glass applique. The glasswork is mounted on polycarbonate sheeting and is two centimetres off the wall to help give it depth and bring life to the colours.
