Dazzling Shield of the Heart

This is a slumped glass sculpture. It has two layers of glass nesting into one another. The slumped vessel beneath has photographic decal of indigenous butterflies of Ireland and is painted with light aqua glass enamel. The slumped vessel above it has several layers of glass flowers and ivy leaves with dichroic slide. There is photographic decal of a dragon in the centre behind the glass flowers. It also has colour photographic decal of flowers that were given to me. Sitting on the shield are several glass butterflies. The shield has an opening where the butterflies seen beneath can fly out into the open onto the heart shield denoting transformation of the Heart into Openness.
