Visiting this magnificent site,I photographed the information slab in front of the entrance to Grange Circle. This has an archaeological drawing inscribed onto it which was done by the archaeologist Sean P. O’ Riodain from an excavation done in 1951. I had asked my partner Graham Hull, also an archaeologist to take some drone images of Grange Circle and found to my delight that the drawing of 1951 and the drone image were almost identical when overlapped. This was a wonderful demonstration of the fine and accurate excavation drawings done in 1951. The view of Lough Gur is one from the entrance to the visitor’s center and includes the Knockadoon Hill. It is one of Ireland's most important archaeological sites. Humans have lived near Lough Gur since about 3000 BC.

Grange stone circle is the largest stone circle in Ireland.
